The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) has issued a warning that a tropical low is expected to intensify to cyclone strength before reaching the northern Queensland coast this weekend. As the storm approaches, the BoM advises that damaging winds will sweep along the coast within the warning area on Saturday. These winds will shift direction, turning east to northeasterly south of 12U during Saturday afternoon and evening. While conditions might improve north of Innisfail by Saturday evening, they are forecast to linger into Sunday in the Herbert and Lower Burdekin regions, as well as the Central Coast and Whitsundays.
