Nio's Onvo L90: LiDAR, Two-Tone Color, and More Revealed (2026)

The Onvo L90, a highly anticipated model from the Nio Inc. sub-brand, is set to revolutionize the market with its cutting-edge features. According to a recent regulatory filing, the L90 will be equipped with LiDAR, a technology that has been a standard feature on the main Nio brand's vehicles. This marks a significant step forward for Onvo, as its current models, the L60 and L90, do not include LiDAR. The L90's LiDAR unit will be strategically positioned at the center of the roof, mirroring the design of its parent brand's vehicles. With a higher price tag, the L90 is expected to launch in the second quarter, offering a premium experience to its buyers.

Onvo's President, Shen Fei, confirmed the upcoming launch, emphasizing that the current L90 model will continue to be available and will receive OTA system updates. The L90's starting price is set at RMB 265,800, including the battery pack, or RMB 179,800 under the BaaS (Battery as a Service) plan with a monthly battery rental fee of RMB 899. This pricing strategy positions the L90 as a competitive option in the market.

LiDAR, initially a luxury feature, is now becoming more accessible due to decreasing costs. Major LiDAR manufacturers like Hesai Group and RoboSense have seen impressive delivery numbers, with Hesai Group delivering over 200,000 units and RoboSense surpassing 180,000 units in 2025. Nio's current LiDAR supplier, Seyond, was recently listed in Hong Kong, further solidifying the technology's importance in the industry.

In addition to LiDAR, the Onvo L90 will also offer a two-tone body color option, similar to Nio's flagship ET9 sedan. This feature adds to the model's appeal and customization options. The L90's rear badge, either L90 or L80, suggests that the L80 model may also incorporate LiDAR and offer a two-tone body option, further expanding the brand's offerings.

The L80, a five-seat variant of the L90, was initially planned for a 2025 launch but was delayed due to production constraints. Onvo's decision to delay the L80's rollout highlights the brand's commitment to meeting demand for its existing models, such as the L90 and Nio ES8. With its advanced features and strategic pricing, the Onvo L90 is poised to make a significant impact on the market, offering a compelling alternative to consumers.
