Big news for Kentucky Wildcats fans! Defensive back Grant Grayton has announced he's staying put, returning to the team for the 2026 season. This is a significant boost for the Wildcats as they enter the Will Stein era.
Grayton, a promising player in Kentucky's secondary, made his announcement on Saturday afternoon. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 205 pounds, this cornerback from Maryland made a splash in his freshman year in 2025, playing in six games. He racked up a solid 16 tackles, three pass deflections, and, impressively, one interception – a highlight that came against a ranked Georgia team.
But here's where it gets interesting: Grayton, a former three-star recruit out of Good Counsel (MD), originally committed to Minnesota before flipping his decision to Kentucky in December 2024. His college debut was a memorable one, with three tackles and a pass deflection in a win against Eastern Michigan.
Grayton's impact was felt throughout the season. He played against South Carolina and Georgia in consecutive weeks and then returned to the field in the final three games, showcasing his talent. He achieved a career-high five tackles against a ranked Vanderbilt team, and matched that performance in the regular-season finale against Louisville.
With Grayton's return, Kentucky's cornerback room is now eight players strong. It includes: Kevis Thomas (Sr.), Braxton Urquhart (RJr.), Terhyon Nichols (Jr.), Haasan Sykes (Jr.), Grant Grayton (So.), Demarcus Gardner (RFr.), Andrew Purcell (RFr.), and Isaiah McMillian (Fr.).
